NATIONAL SECOND CHANCE NETWORK

LEGAL NODE

The NSCN Legal Node is where members confront the legal barriers that block access to housing, employment, custody, licensing, benefits, and ownership. Every Verified Partner inside this node, each a licensed attorney in good standing has stepped in to align with powering the second chance economy, committed to serving members at reduced in-network rates, operating under non-extractive terms, and standing on the same side of the table as the people they represent. A criminal record, an eviction filing, a deportation risk, a wrongful termination, a landlord retaliation, or a debt collector lawsuit each carry their own legal answer, and in most cases the difference between losing and winning is whether someone with the right credentials picked up the phone. Verified Partners across fifteen practice areas handle expungement and record sealing, eviction defense, lease disputes, bankruptcy counsel, criminal defense, fair housing, family law, immigration, employment law, consumer protection, reentry support, veterans services, personal injury, real estate, and estate planning. Members access every consultation for free. Verified Partners subscribe to access the network and commit to reduced in-network pricing as a condition of access. Both sides operate under the NSCN Second Chance Living Standard.

HOW IT WORKS

The NSCN Legal Node is one operational node within a connected Second Chance ecosystem. Members access Verified Partners (VPs) — licensed attorneys across fifteen practice areas for free. VPs subscribe to access the network. Both sides operate under the NSCN Second Chance Living Standard.

  • LEASE DISPUTES & TENANT RIGHTS
  • BANKRUPTCY COUNSEL

  • ESTATE PLANNING & PROBATE

──Member Protections──

  • Free access to all fifteen practice areas and VP listings
  • Members receive reduced in-network pricing from VPs compared to standard out-of-network rates; VPs are required to offer this reduction as a condition of network access
  • Member information is not sold, shared, transferred, or licensed by NSCN to any third party
  • Member information shared with a VP may only be used to respond to the specific service request
  • Service requests are archived after the response window closes; members are not re-marketed to about closed requests
  • Members request a separate consultation through the appropriate practice area for each new service need, so each request is matched with VPs who specialize in that specific area of law
  • Service quality, pricing, and the attorney-client relationship are between the VP and the member
  • Members are directed to each VP's external review platform and state bar profile to verify standing and leave feedback about service experiences
  • Coordination with NSCN Business, Financial, and Homeowners Nodes is built into every practice area where the member's need spans multiple nodes
  • Protection under the NSCN Second Chance Living Standard applies to every interaction

≡ VERIFIED PROFESSIONAL ACCESS

──FOUNDING MEMBER PHASE──

The NSCN Legal Node is currently in founding-member phase. Approved Verified Partners (VPs) are licensed attorneys added to the directory by practice area and state hub and are notified directly when service requests come in from network members. Subscription access is $50 per month, per practice area, with no cap on client introductions during active subscription. A one-time $250 annual node activation fee initiates the VP listing.

NSCN structures VP subscription costs deliberately low so the savings can pass through to members. In exchange, VPs commit to offering reduced in-network pricing to NSCN members compared to their standard public rates. This is the trade that makes the network sustainable for both sides — VPs receive unlimited member introductions at a fraction of typical lead-generation costs, and members receive reduced pricing from accountable, vetted attorneys.

NSCN does not recognize our members as leads. There are no pay-per-lead fees, no per-match charges, and no premium tiers; every member introduction reaches the VP under the same flat subscription terms. Founding VPs are locked into early-access pricing and priority placement as the network expands.

──Verified Partner Standards──

  • Subscription is $50 per month, per practice area, with no cap on client introductions, plus a $250 annual node activation fee
  • VPs are required to offer reduced in-network pricing to NSCN members compared to their standard public rates. NSCN does not set or approve VP pricing, but in-network pricing must reflect a meaningful reduction from the VP's standard out-of-network rate. This is a condition of network access
  • Member information received through NSCN may not be sold, shared, transferred, or licensed to any third party — violation results in immediate removal and forfeiture of subscription
  • Member information may only be used to respond to the specific service request that introduced the VP
  • VPs may only provide services within the practice area to which they are subscribed and to which the member was introduced; cross-practice solicitation, acceptance, or fulfillment is not permitted, and members requiring services in another practice area must be referred back to NSCN
  • VPs are required to maintain an active public review presence and an active state bar profile in good standing, with both linked on the NSCN listing
  • VPs are responsible for their own fee structure, scheduling, representation, and client communication
  • VPs must maintain active licensure in the state of practice, current malpractice insurance where required, and good standing with the state bar for the duration of the listing
  • NSCN does not host reviews of individual VPs or mediate disputes about representation, fees, or attorney-client matters; bar grievance procedures remain the proper venue for professional conduct concerns
  • Approval requires a completed verification checklist including active state bar licensure, current malpractice insurance where required, identity verification, active external review and bar profile links, and a signed terms agreement
